WALK: Southern Carpathian Mountains Romania 14-day event Grades 3-4

The Southern Carpathian Mountains are rarely visited by international tourists and contain a rich variety of wildlife hidden in vast woodlands dotted with remote villages, mountain pastures and rustic farms. There are many unique geological features, including caves, gorges and waterfalls. Days of hiking will be interspersed with cultural visits.

There will be two nights in Bucharest including a guided tour, and approximately five nights in both the Piatra Craiului and Apuseni regions before returning to Bucharest for the last night. Accommodation will be in mostly family-owned guesthouses with up to 8-10 en-suite double bedrooms. The estimated cost is EUR 2,350 per person. This includes professional guides, accommodation and meals, bus hire with dedicated drivers and entry fees.

Singles are encouraged to share with another member to avoid a solo supplement of possibly EUR 490.

The trip will consist of 2 groups of 15 (maximum).

These groups separate after Day 2; with one group travelling to the Piatra Craiului National Park while the other group goes to the Apuseni Mountains). The groups then swap locations for the next part of the trip.

Members on the Interlaken trip will be able to join this trip by flying from Zurich (at 12 noon on 16th) to Bucharest (about two hours' flying time) assuming airline schedules do not change for 2024
