WALK: Mt Kaputar and Warrumbungles 6-day Event Grades 2-4
Please click the following link for further information: Kaputar and Warrumbungles Itinerary 2025
Both destinations are in National Parks and permits are required. An annual seniors pass is cheaper than a 3-day pass, so best inquire when booking via NPWS. You can call Narrabri NPWS 02 67937300
Make sure you bring warm clothes for the evenings that could be rather nippy! Best to bring a torch to ensure safe returns from happy hour or star-gazing sessions.
Once registered, please log into the chat to help organise accommodation and carpooling.
Mt. Kaputar (3 nights 28th-31st March)
Click here to book accommodation via the NSW NP website for Dawson Springs cabins or the campground.
Best to secure one of these cabins asap. (One has disabled access and only accommodates two people). The middle cabin will sleep up to four. Jenny and Heron have a spare double for a couple or a single in their cabin - as of now).
Camping space is available. Access warning: the last 20kms into Mt Kaputar is steep and windy and not suitable for caravans and motorhomes.
You must bring your own drinking water to Mt. Kaputar NP. Also, BYO food and beverages for 3 days and a camp chair to enjoy the sunset on the summit.
Warrumbungles NP (3 nights 31st March-3rd April)
Heron and Jenny have booked Mirrabooka Cottage, which has a spare double and single bed (for a couple and a single or two singles to share with them). Click here to book at Camp Blackman in the Warrambungles NP for tents and vans. It is close to where Jenny and Heron are staying and has showers. Coonabarabran is 45 mins from the centre of the Park.
